Bill Pullman to star as Hugh Hefner in new movie set in the Playboy Mansion

Lily-Rose Depp and Vanessa Paradis will also be in the cast of Playmates.

Bill Pullman has just joined PlaymatesLorraine Nicholson’s first film, in which he will play the founder of the magazine Playboy. The feature film, produced and distributed by Searchlight Pictures, will mainly be carried by Lily-Rose Depp. His mother, Vanessa Paradis, will also be in the cast.

Contrary to what its title might suggest, the film will not be a biopic dedicated to Hugh Hefner. Playmates will tell the story of two young women in the middle of the very special world of the famous Playboy Mansion. We will find the young Indiana Elle, revealed in The Housekeeperwho will play a 13-year-old girl who considers the mansion her second home. There she meets Anna – played by Lily-Rose Depp – one of the seven young women who hope to become Playmate of the Month. The two will form an unexpected friendship and help each other obtain what they want most: for one, a magazine cover; for the other, a boy.

A scenario largely inspired by the childhood of Lorraine Nicholson, daughter of Jack Nicholson and actress Rebecca Broussard.

In a long story published by Vanity Fair in 2024, the filmmaker said she grew up near the Playboy Mansion and spent a large part of her childhood there.

“From the year I was born, 1990, until I was about 11, I went to the Playboy Mansion, because that’s where my friends were.”she wrote…

There she rubbed shoulders with Hugh Hefner’s children, but also the Playmates and regulars of the famous Los Angeles residence. His film will therefore draw directly from this experience to tell the story of the transition from childhood to adolescence in a completely unusual setting.

No release date has yet been announced for Playmates.
