Zombies follow each other and look alike at Paul W. S. Anderson. After adapting video games resident Evil at the cinema, with Milla Jovovichthe director tackles another franchise of the genre: House of the Dead.
The saga appeared on arcade machines in the 1990s, featuring fast-moving zombies, charging at players firing laser guns at the screen. The games were then ported to consoles by SEGA.
According to Deadline, Anderson will write and direct this feature film House of the Deadproduction of which is expected to begin in 2025. No casting names have been announced.
So does the filmmaker intend to remake resident Evil under another name? Not at all, he defends himself, explaining that he wants to make a pure action film, without being too cluttered with mythology:
“It’s going to be a real horror ride. It’s different from what we did with resident Evilwhere there were many traps, puzzles and mysteries to solve. House of the Dead is primarily an on-rail shooter, so it puts you right into the action. I will create a film that takes this approach, unfolding in real time to immerse the audience immediately into the action. There will not be an accumulation of context that could exclude those who do not know House of the Dead. Everyone will be on the same page.“
