Pride and Prejudice: Jack Lowden as Mr Darcy in the Netflix trailer

“It is a truth universally recognized…” Jane Austen’s classic returns in a six-episode mini-series.

We don’t yet know if Jack Lowden will be the next James Bond. But the Slow Horses actor is already preparing to play another cult character: Mr Darcy, the romantic hero of Pride and Prejudice.

Netflix has just revealed the trailer for its new adaptation of Jane Austen’s novel, with Emma Corrin in the role of Elizabeth Bennet and Olivia Colman in that of her mother.

“It is a truth universally recognized…”: it is difficult to find a better introduction for this new version of a classic published in 1813. In six episodes, the mini-series will tell the thwarted romance between Elizabeth Bennet and Mr Darcy, two characters who everything seems to oppose and whose first meetings are marked by prejudices, misunderstandings and a certain hostility. But behind the appearances and social conventions of 19th century England, attraction eventually takes hold.

This adaptation aims to be faithful to Jane Austen’s novel. The screenplay is by Dolly Alderton, author of Everything I Know About Love, while the direction was entrusted to Euros Lyn, known in particular for his work on Heartstopper.

The challenge will be to breathe new life into a story that has already been adapted numerous times, notably for the cinema in 2005 with Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen.

Released December 3, 2026 on Netflix.
