A big wink to the universe of Tarantino in David Fincher’s film on Cliff Booth
Once Upon A Time’s “suite” … In Hollywood is currently filming in California.
Quentin Tarantino passed his hand to David Fincher for The Adventures of Cliff Booththe “spiritual suite” of Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood Centered on the stuntman’s character embodied by Brad Pitt. Netflix put the package to afford the project, which benefits from a pharaonic budget of 200 million dollars and a beautiful cast (Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul Mateen II, Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Timothy Olyphant, Holt McCallary…). He should be released next year on the platform.
If QT does not make the film, its shadow hangs it. First because it is a recycling of the script of The Movie Criticplanned for a time to be the filmmaker’s last feature film. And then because Tarantino is a very involved producer on the preparation and filming. This summer, he explained on the podcast The Church of Tarantino ::
Quentin Tarantino returns to The Movie Critic: “There was nothing to invent”
“”We are starting to shoot Monday (…) We have been rehearsing for two weeks. I left them to come here, okay? I was still in rehearsal with them this morning, with Brad, Elizabeth Debicki and David Fincher.“”
Tarantino, however, warned that he had to go back and forth between the United States and Israel and that he would not be constantly present on the set, ensuring that David Fincher fully trusts, to whom he passed 120 pages of script: “I think David and I are the best directors, ok?“”
Attention spoilers from the shooting of The Adventures of Cliff Booth
Whatever freedom left to finish, The Adventures of Cliff Booth will inevitably be tarantinesque. What came to confirm a shooting of the shooting, where we can see Brad Pitt entering a restaurant … Big Kahuna Burger. Or the most recurring symbol of the Quentin Cinematic Universe. Appeared for the first time in Dogs Reservoirfast food was made famous by an iconic scene of pulp Fiction Where Julius (Samuel L. We then saw her in other films made and/or written by Tarantino: Groom Service,, A night in hell,, Death boulevard and finally Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood Through a simple advertisement on a bus. The latter took place in 1969, it is the oldest mention of the Big Kahuna in the chronology of Tarantino’s cinema.
But it seems that the Fincher film goes further by making us enter for the first inside a Big Kahuna. A wink likely to delight QT aficionados, hoping that one does not change in the fan service either. The shooting is in any case far from over. Scheduled until mid-January 2026, it will have lasted almost six months in all.
