A great classic with Al Pacino will become a Netflix series
Netflix continues to tap into the heritage of American cinema. The platform is this time preparing a series adaptation of Justice for All.
It’s one of the great classics with Al Pacino: Netflix is currently developing a series inspired by Justice for All (…And Justice for All), the film directed by Norman Jewison in 1979 with Pacino in the lead role.
The project is entrusted to screenwriters Jeremy Miller and Dan Cohn, who will also executive produce alongside Ross Fineman for Fineman Entertainment.
The series is described as “a dark dive into the imperfect life of an idealistic lawyer who tries to fight against a corrupt justice system until the day he finally breaks down.”
Released in the late 1970s, the original feature film followed Arthur Kirkland, an honest lawyer forced to defend a judge accused of rape. A mission made all the more difficult by the fact that this magistrate had previously caused him serious harm by unfairly condemning one of his clients for a simple procedural matter. When the judge himself admits his guilt, Kirkland finds himself trapped in an impossible moral conflict.
The film made an impression thanks to its harsh criticism of the American judicial system and the performance of Al Pacino, nominated for an Oscar for best actor, who notably delivered one of his most famous lines, furious in court:
“You’re out of order! You’re out of order! The whole trial is out of order! They’re out of order!“
The screenplay by Valerie Curtin and Barry Levinson was also nominated for an Oscar.
No actor is yet attached to this new version and Netflix has not communicated a release date.
