A new series with Virginie Efira and Niels Schneider announced by Disney Plus

The actress reunites with the creator of Tout va bien, released in 2023 on the platform.

After the success of Brief 2 last year, Disney + will again invest heavily in French productions in 2026. The platform organized a “showcase” this week to take stock of 2025 and present several ambitious projects.

“Disney+ is the most French of American platforms,” claims Hélène Etzi, president of Walt Disney Company France, who recalls that Disney+ now devotes 25% of its turnover to French creation.

One of the most important announcements concerns the filming of a new series created by screenwriter Camille de Castelnau. In the casting of Solange (provisional title), we will find Virginie Efira and Niels Schneider, couple in life and on screen. Camille de Castelnau offers a tailor-made role for the Belgian actress since she directly refers to her past. Indeed, Virginie Efira will play a television presenter, a profession she practiced for 11 years before making a name for herself in the cinema.

After An Impossible Love (2018) by Catherine Corsini and Sibyl (2019) by Justine Triet, the couple will find themselves in a chiaroscuro relationship. In this fiction, we will follow Solange Marni (Virginie Efira), television host, elected favorite personality of the French, accused of harassment towards her colleagues by Gabriel Roche (Niels Schneider), a journalist from Médiapart. But three years later, when water has flowed under the bridges, the host and the journalist meet again during an exclusive interview and begin an adulterated relationship.

Filming of this six-episode mini-series will take place in the first half of 2026. It is expected in 2027 on Disney+.

In 2023, Camille de Castelnau, known for her work as a screenwriter on Le Bureau des Légendes, had already collaborated with Disney + on her series Tout va bien (photo below), applauded by spectators and critics. A work which already featured Virginie Efira and with Sara Giraudeau, Nicole Garcia and Alyocha Schneider.

“Disney+ intends to bring together the best of both worlds: major American blockbusters, international series and, increasingly, the excellence of French creation, driven by our cinema pre-purchases and our local series,” detailed Hélène Etzi.

The platform is particularly involved in highly anticipated films such as The American Dream by Anthony Marciano, The Phantom of the Opera by Alexandre Castagnetti, the next feature film by the Nakache-Toledano duo, Juste une illusion, the diptych La Bataille de Gaulle by Antonin Baudry, or even LOL 2.0, which Liza Azuelos and Sophie Marceau came on stage during this Disney+ showcase.

Thanks to investments by Disney+ and the new agreement concluded with the cinema industry, two thirds of these films, pre-purchased in the first window, will be available on the platform nine months after their theatrical release.
