A return of Doctor Strange announced by Benedict Cumberbatch
“Next year, Marvel adventures are in the works”.
It was on June 27, during a conference in London, that Benedict Cumberbatch hinted that he may soon return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe: “Next year Marvel Adventures are in the works“, he simply said. A few words are enough to arouse the excitement of the fans.
After the departures of Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans, is now a pillar within the MCU, which has experienced some difficulties in recent months. And he is keen on his role as Stephen Strange. During this same conference, he asserted that as an only child, it was important for him to find his tribe. It looks like it’s been done.
Benedict Cumberbatch portrayed the role of Doctor Strange for the first time in 2016. To then appear in Thor: Ragnarok (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019), Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) then in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022).
Moreover, in this last part, a post-generic scene also implies a sequel. We discover the person of Clea (played by Charlize Theron), princess of the Dark Dimension and niece of Dormammu. She tells him that he caused an incursion (collision of two universes) and that they must solve this problem. It is therefore likely that Strange, in addition to his third eye, will have close help…
If it’s not in Doctor Strange 3who is not officially in the pipeline, his return could be in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty (whose release has been postponed to May 1, 2026), The Fantastic Four (whose filming is scheduled for 2024), or even Blade which will not be released as planned in 2024 due to the writers’ strike. But we will not know more for the moment…
