Abel Gance's Napoleon will be released in cinemas
The general will march on the cinemas on the back of a rooster: that of Pathé Films.
After having made the pre-opening of the 77th Cannes Film Festival, and the opening of the Cannes Classics selection, the Grand Restored Version of Napoleon ofAbel Gance will be entitled to a national release in theaters.
According to The French Film, it is Pathé Films which will be responsible for the distribution of this juggernaut of French cinema, the seven hours of which will be cut in two for the occasion. The historical epic will be entitled to a summer release, starting July 7.
Before that, the two parts of the film will be presented on July 4 and 5 at the Seine Musicale, during a symphonic film concert. They will also go through several festivals, including that of La Rochelle, which they will close on July 7.
At the same time, the Cinémathèque française will organize screenings of Abel Gance's masterpiece from July 6.
At the end of this second life on the big screen, the film will be entitled to a third on the small screen, with the support of France Télévisions and Netflix, before taking off towards new international horizons.
Let us recall that the “Large Version” which will be shown this summer is the result of sixteen years of restoration carried out by Georges Mourier and his teams at the Cinémathèque and the CNC.
The most curious will therefore be able to discover this work from July 7 at the cinema.
