Alex Baldwin would like to be able to turn the page. More than three years after the accidental death of the director of photography Halyna Hutchinson the set of Rustthe western has been completed and is slowly arriving in cinemas. The opportunity for the actor to look back on this tragic moment, which will mark his career forever:
“It’s obviously the hardest thing I’ve ever had to face in my life.” raconte Alex Baldwin to Variety on the sidelines of the Turin Film Festival.

Then Alex Baldwin returns to the details of the trial and the agreement which was made with the widower of Halyna Hutchins :
“There is this idea that someone profited from the sale and distribution of the film. This is totally false. To finish the movie – and this is the only thing I can say about it because there’s a civil case going on – we went to Montana. All my doctors told me not to go there – psychiatrists, cardiologists. I mean, I was very sick for a while after the tragedy. Physically exhausted and sick. But I went. I said to the director Joel Souza, “Are you going to shoot again? If you think it’s important to do it, I will do it. If the only way to settle the matter with husband Halyna and the estate is to finish the movie, let’s do it. » So we went to Montana and we finished… I gave up my fee. I gave them back the fee provided for in the budget. I gave up all money. I gave everything to her husband. He owns the film. Her husband, I believe, is the sole owner of the film, although I could be wrong. Everything was done with this in mind. “
Rust was presented in Poland a few days ago for its grand premiere. Without Alex Baldwinwho has “haven’t seen the final cut. I was sent a rough cut before everything got a little more complicated. So I haven’t seen the film. But, again, I hope the movie comes out…and makes money. I hope the movie sells, and Matt Hutchins gets his money. We all made an agreement with him and we all want to respect it. But to say that we are making money from this story is absolutely false.”
Alex Baldwin concludes by explaining that he does not intend to see Rust A day. “No. It was too painful. We are trying to shelter ourselves from all this (with my wife) now“.
