Beetlejuice 2 will be a “family” comedy
The relationship between Lydia (Winona Ryder) and her daughter (played by Jenna Ortega) will be at the center of the story.
With its gothic tone and unclassifiable black style, Beetlejuice was basically a great family film, in 1988: the story of little Lydia who was looking for loving parents and who would find happiness with the ghosts of Alec Baldwin and Geena Davies. Obviously, the sequel will have the same vibe.
In an interview with The Wrap, the cinematographer of Beetlejuice2Haris Zambarloukos, reveals that the story was designed for and around the family, since the scenario will be centered on the relationship between adult Lydia Deetz (Winona Ryder) and his daughter (played by Jenna Ortega).
“Basically, Beetlejuice was already the story of a family. And 30 years later, this will still be the case with Beetlejuice2. You wonder what efforts it takes to keep a family together, while the world is getting crazier and crazier… That’s why I choose these kinds of projects. For me, people must always be at the forefront and center of the story.”
Beetlejuice2 will once again be directed by Tim Burton. Michael Keaton and Catherine O’Hara will also return to the cast, while Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci and Willem Dafoe will complete the cast. Released September 24, 2024.
