Buffy is back: soon the rest with Sarah Michelle Gellar!

This new series, 20 years later, should be broadcast on Disney more in France.

On May 20, 2003, the grand finale of Buffy was broadcast on American TV. A little more than 20 later, the vampire killer could make her come back! The rest of the series Buffy against vampires is about to be ordered by the Disney Hulu platform. For the time being, it is a pilot, according to Variety. If the series is validated, it would arrive on Disney more in France (like all series of Hulu).

Sarah Michelle Gellar would obviously be of the adventure. But it would no longer be the main role! Indeed, the new series would focus on a new killer. Sarah Michelle Gellar is thus negotiating to return to a recurring role, which one imagines to be his mentor.

And surprise: it is Chloé ZhaoOscar -winning director of Nomadland in 2020 and Eternal de Marvel in 2022, which would mission to achieve this episode of the come back of Buffy.

Nora and Lila Zuckerman write the pilot in question at the moment. They worked on Agents of Shield For Disney, but they were mainly the showrunners of the excellent series Poker facewith Natasha Lyonne, in 2023. No trace of Joss Whedon in the creative team. The creator of Buffy is Persona Non Grata in Hollywood since he was the target of toxic behavior accusations – notably coming from actresses of Buffy.

So when will come back Buffy against vampires ?

Certainly not tomorrow. For the time being, it is just a pilot who must already be validated by Disney, then filmed. On this basis, the studio will decide if it deserves to extend the adventure of Buffy.

Sarah Michelle Gellar knows that it was not won in advance, she who had agreed to come back to play her other cult character, Kathryn Merteuil, in a series derived from Sex intentions. The pilot had been shot, but the series had never been ordered! For the time being, the 48 -year -old actress is a great guest star of the new series Dexter: Original Sin, which starts this Thursday on Canal + in France.
