Buffy the Vampire Slayer saved Pedro Pascal's career
This was long before The Mandalorian and The Last of Us.
Yes, Pedro Pascal appeared in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. We don't remember it, but the Mandalorian interpreter was entitled to his small role in THE emblematic series of pop culture of the 2000s worn by Sarah Michelle Gellar. This was before his name was Pedro Pascal (at the time he used his father's name, “Balmaceda”), before his three-day beard became one of his trademarks.
Since then, Pedro Pascal has multiplied the roles in successful series: Game Of Thrones, The Mandalorian, Narcosand especially The Last of Us, which earned him this year's SAG Award for Best Actor in a Drama Series. But at 24, the actor's career is struggling to take off. He's out of money, and this is a residual payment for his small role in Buffy who will put him back on his feet. In an interview given to Entertainment Weekly (and reported by The Wrap), Pedro Pascal explains:
“We're talking about being able to go to the doctor, get sick, have surgery, pay my rent when I had less than $7 in my bank account, and then I got a residual payment for Buffy the Vampire Slayer and saved my day: that’s literally the reason I kept going and didn’t give up.”
Pedro Pascal, drunk to receive a prestigious award
In short, we are not far from disaster. And to fish out the broke actor, what better than the role of Buffy's new flirt? In the first episode of the fourth season, Pedro Pascal plays Eddie, whom Sarah Michelle Gellar's cult character meets on his university campus before he is felled by a group of vampires. Maybe Eddie and Buffy could have formed one of the star couples of the series? But the writers decided otherwise…
Moreover, Pedro Pascal is not the only one to remember his time in Buffysince at the beginning of the year, Sarah Michelle Gellar posted a memory of their shared episode on Instagram:
Today, Pedro Pascal no longer has to worry: just this year, after Drive Away Dolls of Ethan Coenit will be on display in Gladiator 2 of Ridley Scott and of Eddington ofAri Aster. He is also expected to reprise his role as Joel Miller in The Last of Usand that he takes on that of Mr Fantastic in the highly anticipated Fantastic Four from Marvel, announced for 2025. Phew!
