Christopher Nolan will receive an honorary César this year
The Oppenheimer director will be celebrated in Paris before the Oscars, for which he is a big favorite.
After David Fincher in 2023, another great international filmmaker will be highlighted this year during the Caesar ceremony which will be held on February 23 in Paris, at the Palais de l’Olympia. Christopher Nolan will receive a Honorary Caesar to reward a career already rich in accomplishments.
Of Memento to the trilogy of Dark KnightPassing by Prestige, Inception, Interstellar Or Dunkirk, the 53-year-old British director has left his mark on the history of cinema and pop culture. And he has undoubtedly just signed the greatest feat of arms in his filmography with Oppenheimerhis latest feature film, which had phenomenal success at the cinema (a billion revenues worldwide) and is a huge favorite for the Oscars.
Fiercely attached to film and the experience of cinema in theaters, Christopher Nolan also symbolizes the fight for the preservation of the 7th art, like Martin Scorsese or Quentin Tarantino. And this honorary César will be for him a foretaste of the consecration that awaits him at the Oscars, where for the first time in his career he should walk away with the prize for best director.
Last year, Virginie Efira and Brad Pitt presented David Fincher with the Honorary César. Who will be there for Nolan’s? Cillian Murphy, his favorite actor who plays the main role ofOppenheimerwould be a perfect candidate.
Note that this year two personalities will receive an honorary César, since we also learned today that Agnès Jaoui would receive the prestigious award.
The 49th César ceremony will be broadcast on February 23 unencrypted and live, on Canal Plus.
