Daredevil Born Again: The final of season 1 explained

The actor Vincent d’Onofrio explains what Wilson Fisk wants, after a particularly violent final.

The final of Daredevil: Born Again is online on Disney Plus. And he is like this first season of the Revival: violent, bloody, without concession, and quite exciting.

Attention spoilers!

From this last episode, Wilson Fisk is winning. No dispute possible, it was he who won the first round of Daredevil: Born Againafter having succeeded in imposing his vision in New York, eradicating the vigilantsow terror with his opponents, create his own militia to the air of the army. The tyrant of Big Apple has everything at the end of this final and Matt Murdock seems well helpless to fight. In his corner, he tries to regain strength, before going back to the ring, with a new team behind him, for season 2!

The one on whom he will not be able to count is the commissioner Gallo. The integrity boss of New York cops was killed by Fisk, in a brutal scene where Kingpin Has literally grind the skull of his enemy, with bare hands! Vincent D’Onofrio Tell in Variety how he reacted by discovering this sequence on paper:

“To be honest, my first reaction was to think: how are we going to do that? How can we make our scene different from all the other violent scenes that have already shown this kind of thing in the series?”

This murder in broad daylight, before witnesses, is not only a visual shock: it is a demonstration of force. Fisk acts with impunity, as if he had nothing to prove: “He is clearly alone in power “ insists the actor who tempers: “He must still keep his place as mayor, in one way or another. The assassination of Commissioner Gallo takes place in front of his own special unit; He wants to model them in his image, as cruel as him. No one outside of them has witnessed this murder. And I’m sure he will end up being suffocated … “

Remains to be seen how Fisk can physically perform such acts. Officially, it is not considered “an improved being” in the lore MCU. However, since the series Hawkeye – He took a bullet in the eye! – Some fans of the MCU think that he would have secretly undergone a physical transformation, especially after his release from prison. This final of Born Again nourishes this theory. Yes, Fisk seems endowed with an almost superhuman force. Where does it come from? Of a homemade super-soldier serum, less powerful than those of Steve Rogers Or Buckybut enough to spray a man with bare hands?

On this point, Onofrio remains silent. Perhaps we will have answers in season 2.

But anyway, behind his brutality, there is a vision. What really the Caid in all of this? What is his plan in the end? Why does it act, especially after an attempted redemption which seemed almost credible at the start of the new series? Vincent D’Onofrio clearly explains things:

“His big plan is martial law. As long as he holds the city under martial law, he can commit as many crimes as he wants and eliminate vigilantes. It is part of his vision of things: to be able, in the long term, to extend his influence beyond New York! Yes, I would say that he has larger plans than New York. But first, New York …”

Inevitably, we already imagine a presidential destiny. THE Caid At the White House? The actor is not going so far: “I don’t think. I don’t see him as a politician. I see him as a corrupt man. So yes, it could happen, but I seriously doubt it. I suppose you ask this question because of what is happening in real life, but the series has no connection with the news. I do not think that it is a direction that we will borrow … “

Season 2 of Daredevil Born Again is currently being filmed and expected next year on Disney Plus.
