Denzel Washington is no longer watching films: “I’m tired of the movies”
The funny confession of the freshly honored superstar in Cannes, and which is currently selling the new thriller of Spike Lee.
At 70, Denzel Washington has nothing to do with it. Neither Oscars, nor even … cinema.
The doubly Oscar -winning actor revealed that he was no longer watching films, an astonishing confession made during a video interview for Gq (below) Alongside its director Spike Lee and his game partner at $ ap Rocky, on the occasion of the release of Highest 2 Lowest.
“I’m not watching movies, guy. Really more at all!”
Denzel Washington insists:
‘”I’m honest! I’m not watching movies! I’m not going to the movies. I’m not watching movies … I’m tired of the movies. Yeah.”
The actor acknowledges may have simply given too much. When Spike Lee asks him how many films he filmed, he answers tac to the tac: “Too much. I would say 50!”
Already, last May, in Cannes, just before receiving his surprise golden palm of honor, the star had cracked on the steps of the palace by attacking an overly zealous photographer.
Highest 2 Lowest mark the fifth collaboration between Washington and Lee, after Mo ‘Better Blues (1990), Malcolm X (1992), He Got Game (1998) and Inside Man (2006). The film will be released in France on Apple TV+ on September 5.
