‘Diana’s Ghost’ Will Play a Role in Season 6 of The Crown

Creator Peter Morgan is already forced to justify himself, while the final season has not yet been broadcast on Netflix.

It hasn’t even been broadcast yet and it is already attracting criticism across the Channel. The sixth and final season of The Crown will deal with the death of Diana (Elizabeth Debicki), obviously. And the Daily Mail reveals that the Netflix series will include a scene in which Lady Di’s ghost speaks to Prince Charles (Dominic West) and Queen Elizabeth II (Imelda Staunton) after her death…

The decision to use Diana’s ghost has already sparked quite a bit of outrage online. The creator, Peter Morgan, must therefore set the record straight. No, The Crown has not become a fantastic series!

“I never imagined him as Diana’s ‘ghost’ in the traditional sense.”assures the screenwriter in a long interview with Variety. “You have to look at it as Diana, who lives on vividly in the minds of those she left behind. Diana was unique and I guess that’s what inspired me to find a unique way to represent her. She deserved special treatment on a narrative level.”

Another sensitive point of season 6: the virtual absence of Prince Andrew, whose friendship with the financier and convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, was built at the beginning of the 21st century. “I never really got close to Prince Andrew in the series. Because my focus is on the direct line of succession: Elizabeth, Charles, William. Likewise, I treat Harry a little but mainly only in his relationship with William.”

Besides, Peter Morgan didn’t even read Harry’s much-discussed memoir, “Spare,” before imagining season 6. “I haven’t read a word of it. Not that it doesn’t interest me. But I didn’t want his voice to inhabit my thoughts too much. I have a lot of sympathy for him, a lot of sympathy. But I don’t didn’t want to read his book.”

Season 6 of The Crown will be divided into two parts: volume one consisting of four episodes will be broadcast on November 16, 2023, the remaining six episodes (volume 2) will be broadcast on December 14, 2023.
