Following the success of The Pitt, HBO Max announces a new… French medical series
Rush will take us to the heart of Parisian SMUR.
After the success of The Pitt, once again crowned at the Emmy Awards this week, HBO Max announces a new breathtaking medical series.
This time, we will not be in Pittsburgh, nor in the United States. It will be a French medical series, which will be called Rush, and which will follow SMUR teams in the streets of Paris.
The official pitch revealed by HBO Max: “Paris. 10 million inhabitants and stories. An emergency can change everything. Around three doctors with opposite temperaments, the SMUR medical teams plunge at full speed into the heart of the emergencies of the City of Lights – in the street, bars, private apartments or emblematic places. Faced with situations where every second counts, they must act quickly and decide correctly, while trying to keep the emergencies of others at arm’s length, a system under tension, the group cohesion and their own intimate struggles.”
Rush will be made up of 8 episodes of 45 minutes. The series is created and written by Nils-Antoine Sambuc, already screenwriter of Belphégor, En Thérapie and Soleil Noir. He is accompanied in writing by Gaëlle Bellan, Maya Haffar and Maxime Crupeaux. ER veteran Neal Baer is on the project as associate producer.
For the moment, no casting has been announced and no broadcast date is planned. Filming is scheduled to begin this fall.
And also the thriller Bodycam
HBO Max also announced Bodycam, a much more horrific French series. Created by Timothée Hochet and Benjamin Adam, with the collaboration of Mehdi Ouahab, it will follow two police officers after an intervention which turns into tragedy.
“Two police officers shoot an unarmed teenager and decide to hide this blunder from their superiors. But the young man, injured, disappears with one of their bodycams, which could incriminate them. While they are desperate to get it back, the city’s police officers suffer a series of strange attacks. Soon, a police officer disappears…
Here again, HBO Max orders 8 episodes, but 30 minutes this time. The series, which mixes crime thriller and horror, will begin filming this fall alongside Rush.
