Gen V is already stopping: no season 3 for The Boys spin-off!

While Prime Video’s event series will end in a few days, Prime Video has decided to stop its successful spin-off series. To make way for another spin-off?

Prime Video is cleaning up its The Boys franchise!

While Prime Video’s brutal superhero series will end in a few weeks, at the end of season 5, we learn that Gen V is also ending. And without notice. The spin-off will not return for a third season. Season 2, broadcast between September and October 2025, was therefore the last.

In a press release, executive producers Eric Kripke and Evan Goldberg confirmed the news, explaining that this cancellation was not chosen but that Marie Moreau and her friends will not disappear like that:

“While we would have liked to extend the Godolkin adventure for one more season, we are committed to continuing the stories of the Gen V characters, who will be in Season 5 of The Boys, and will then return in other Vought Cinematic Universe projects to come. You will see them again!”

Worn in particular by Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, Derek Luh and Keeya King, the series took place at Godolkin University, a university unlike any other dedicated to the training of superheroes.

Despite a good start to its season 2 – with 424 million minutes viewed in its first week, according to Nielsen data – Gen V failed to maintain the course over time. The series only returned to the top 10 most watched programs once thereafter. Prime Video therefore no longer wants to put money into this expensive spin-off which does not attract enough people.

With the impending end of The Boys and the shutdown of Gen V, the shared universe is starting to tighten up. There is only one series left in the Vought Universe: Vought Rising, a prequel officially in development, which has just completed filming and which will be released in 2027 on Prime Video. This new series will go back in time and follow the adventures of Soldier Boy (played by Jensen Ackles) and Stormfront (played by Aya Cash) in the 1950s.
