George Clooney slams Tarantino for being ‘cruel’ to Paul Dano

The Jay Kelly actor also suffered a tackle from the director some time ago…

We thought the series was over. But no, George Clooney put a coin back in the machine.

Last December, Quentin Tarantino gratuitously smashed Paul Dano by accusing him of spoiling There Will Be Blood. “You put Daniel Day-Lewis against the weakest male actor in Hollywood? The most lazy guy in the world?”protested the filmmaker while presenting his top 20 best films of the 21st century.

A huge outpouring of support and love for Paul Dano ensued. And a month and a half later, it continues. On the occasion of an awards ceremony rewarding works intended for those over 50 (the Movies for Grown Ups Awards), Clooney returned to the controversy, of course defending the actors cited by QT (Dano is not the only one to have taken a shot).

“By the way, Paul Dano, Owen Wilson and Matthew Lillard, I will be honored to work with these actors. Honored“, declared the actor while receiving the award for best actor for Jay Kelly, from Noah Baumbach, presented by his friendEMERGENCIES Noah Wyle.

It’s a film made by people who love the actors, that’s very important. Most of the people I’ve known in my life are actors. I have a great affinity for them and I don’t like seeing people being cruel. We live in a time of cruelty. No need to add more“.

It should be remembered that there is resentment between George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino. The two men shared the poster for A Night in Hell, in 1996. But in 2024, during an interview with GQClooney had responded to a derogatory remark from Tarantino towards him, showing that their relationship was no longer very cordial.

Quentin has been talking bad about me recently, so I’m a little annoyed with him. He did an interview where he was quoting movie stars, he was talking about Brad Pitt, and someone else, and they asked him: ‘ok, what about George?‘He then said I wasn’t a movie star.

Is George Clooney (still) a movie star?
