GIGN with Tomer Sisley is the most watched series in the world, currently on Netflix

The French action thriller is off to a strong start on the platform.

French action thrillers are definitely popular on Netflix. After the hits of Pax Massilia, Braqueurs or more recently Soleil noir, GIGN is no exception to the rule.

The new six-episode series directed by Julien Leclercq (L’Assaut) is off to a thunderous start, taking straight to first place in the platform’s world rankings.

Worn by Tomer Sisley, the series attracted more than 10 million views in just five days of operation. A score which quite simply makes it the most watched series in the world on Netflix this week, but ahead of the American hits of the moment. GIGN – which is called Elite Force internationally – does even better than the comedy The Hawk with Will Ferrell or In Your Footsteps, the latest adaptation of a novel by Harlan Coben.

For comparison, Julien Leclercq’s previous Netflix project, Braqueurs, had reached around 11 million views, but after fourteen days of operation.

An excellent start which confirms the international public’s appetite for French action productions.
