Guillaume Canet is Louis XVI in The Flood: trailer

And Mélanie Laurent plays Marie-Antoinette, in this historical film recounting the fall of the Monarchy after the French Revolution.

Welcome to the Temple Tower! After being arrested in Varennes, King Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette could no longer flee the Revolution. The year is 1792, and the Monarchy is about to fall. The sovereign and his queen still want to believe that they will find Versailles one day. But the worst awaits them…

In The Flood, Guillaume Canet will turn into Louis XVIa nice paunchy monarch overwhelmed by events, while Melanie Laurent will be a Marie Antoinette frightened and tired by the stupidity of her royal husband, as shown in the trailer (below).

“The Ancien Régime is coming to an end. In Paris, Louis XVI and his wife Marie-Antoinette are arrested and taken to the dungeon of the Tour du Temple” details the synopsis of the film, freely inspired by the notebooks of Cléry, the King’s valet who remained with him until his death.

The Flood is made by the Italian Gianluca Jodice (The Poet and the Dictator in 2020). Released in cinemas on December 25.
