Hayao Miyazaki worries about the lack of promotion around his latest film
Studio Ghibli decided not to campaign around Kimi-tachi wa Dō Ikiru ka or How Do You Live.
It is not yet known when will be released in cinemas How Do You Live (Kimi-tachi wa Dō Ikiru ka) the last film of Hayao Miyazaki. But Studio Ghibli has announced that it has decided not to do any promotion around the long-awaited feature film. That is to say, no trailers, no posters, no promo photos. A real bet assumed by Toshio Suzuki, president of the Studio, confident that this new strategy will pique more the interest of the public.
But Hayao Miyazaki, he has no more doubts. In a recent interview with the Ghibli exhibit in Tokyo (via World of Reel), the Japanese filmmaker admitted he was really nervous about the choice:
“I wonder if it will go without publicity… If people will come… I’m starting to worry I must say. But I’m worried, that’s all. We’ll see…”
Suzuki producer Toshio also confirmed that How Do You Live will not be based on Genzaburō Yoshino’s 1937 teen novella, which shares the same title. It will be an original story, a “great fantasy film” on which 60 animators are working and of which nothing is known yet.
