“I’m privileged!” Jack Quaid admits to being a “nepo baby”

“I know it’s incredibly difficult to break through, and I’ve had an easier time doing it than most,” admits the son of Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan.

If he is today a star of The Boys, Jack Quaid is also the son of a leading Hollywood couple from the 1990s: Dennis Quaid And Meg RyanIn other words, he is a “nepo baby”, a pejorative expression that points the finger at young, well-connected stars.

But Jack Quaid fully assumes!”A nepo baby? Yes it’s true!” he confides in the Daily Beast. “I’m an incredibly privileged person. I was lucky enough to get an agent early on, and that’s part of the battle. I knew the door was open for me in a lot of ways, but that’s just not the case for a lot of actors. And I just tried to work as hard as I could to prove that I deserved to walk through that door.”

Meg Ryan had already tried to defend his son, assuring last year in an interview (in Glamour) that “this nepo baby thing is so dismissive…it belittles his work ethic and talent“. What makes you smile Jack Quaid :

“It’s okay for her to say that, she’s my mom. She’s a loving mom. But I don’t think she’s trying to say that I’m not a nepp baby. No, I think she’s afraid it’s going to devalue my talent. But I don’t think that’s the case deep down. I know I work hard, and I know I’ve been told ‘no’ way more times than I’ve been told ‘yes’. Now, I know it’s incredibly hard to break into this industry and I’ve had an easier time doing it than most. So no, I don’t think she was trying to say that I’m not a privileged person in this industry. She knows that.”
