It is still moving for the next Star Wars with Daisy Ridley
Star Wars: New Jedi Order has found a new screenwriter. The project goes back to zero or almost.
Episode X of Star Wars is obviously always relevant. While we thought it more or less canceled, after being fired from the calendar by Lucasfilm, the come back of Daisy Ridley In the very distant galaxy comes back to life. The studio has just hired George Nolfi (screenwriter of Revenge in the skin) to write the script for this suite of Star Wars: the ascent of Skywalker (2019). Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is always under contract to achieve it.
Title (for the moment) Star Wars: New Jedi Orderthe film was to be written by Damon Lindelof (Lost) and Justin Britt-Gibson (The Strain). But they dropped the case and it was Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders) who took over, before turning the heels in the fall of 2024. Knight’s departure coincided with the withdrawal of the calendar feature film, he who was planned for a cinema outing in December 2026.
The arrival of Nolfi in production proves that Lucasfilm remains determined to release the film, despite everything.
The central concept of the project should remain the same: Rey will try to relaunch the order of Jedi knights, almost in the process of extinction. “If I didn’t think the story was worth telling, I would not have come back” confided Daisy Ridley at first last September, ensuring that nothing forced him to return to Star Wars. “I was simply asked if I wanted to do it, on the basis of an idea, without the script being written yet. If I had not been convinced by the concept, the film would not have seen the day.”
Star Wars: New Jedi Order should therefore keep this same basic idea, with George Nolfi at the script.
That said, the film will not be released in 2026 and probably not in 2027 either!
The Mandalorian & Grogu is the next planning, with a date wedged in May 2026 and the following will certainly be the adventure made by Shawn Levy with Ryan Gosling headlining (for 2027?). Star Wars: New Jedi Orderif the scenario is finally written, would certainly wait 2028.
