Jacques Audiard thanked Karla Sofía Gascón by receiving the Bafta

By receiving the trophy for the best film in a foreign language, Jacques Audiard has not forgotten her main actress, in turmoil for a month.

Sunday February 16, Emilia Perez won two BAFTA trophies (English Oscars): that of the best actress in a supporting role for Zoe Saldaña, and that of the best film in a foreign language (“Not in English Language”). The director Jacques Audiard came on stage to receive the trophy from the hands of Adam Scott (Severance), and took the opportunity to thank, among other people, his star, Karla Sofía Gascón.

“Through cinema, we weave stories that try to push the limits a little, to question some conventions, even if that sometimes requires us to break certain rules along the way”said the director. “I would like to thank this evening the wonderful talents that helped me create, and the producers who believed in us”. Audiard thanked Netflix “For their incredible support”.

The film has already won the jury prize and the female interpretation prize for the whole casting at the Cannes Film Festival, thus three Golden Globes: Best musical /comedy film, Best Foreign Language Movie Best Actress in a supporting role.
