James Franco returns in a blockbuster: he will be in the casting of John Rambo

The actor had been persona non grata among Hollywood studios for a decade.

The Hollywood return of James Franco is taking shape.

Discreet for several years, following accusations of sexual violence and inappropriate behavior (which he ended up settling amicably), the actor has just joined the cast of the new film John Rambo, the prequel dedicated to the youth of the famous veteran created by Sylvester Stallone.

According to Variety, Franco would play a small role in the film, which has just finished filming in Thailand. This would be his first participation in a major Hollywood production in almost ten years.

The film will follow a young John Rambo, long before the events of Rambo in 1982. Noah Centineo will inherit the lead role, while David Harbor will play Major Trautman, military mentor of the hero formerly played by the late Richard Crenna. It is unclear which character James Franco will play.

Directing, we find the Finnish Jalmari Helander, already noticed with the brutal Sisu. The screenplay is by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani.

The cast also includes Yao, Jason Tobin, Quincy Isaiah, Jefferson White and Tayme Thapthimthong.

The announcement comes as James Franco reappeared on the Croisette this year, once again authorized to climb the steps of the palace.

No release date has been announced yet.
