James Gunn reveals first look at Jason Momoa as Lobo in Supergirl

Visible fangs, predatory gaze and intergalactic rockstar attitude: the ex-Aquaman appears for the first time in this short video taken from the film Supergirl, which will be released in theaters next summer.

After playing Aquaman in the SynderverseJason Momoa was able to keep a place in James Gunn’s new DC Universe.

The actor of Minecraft had expressed his obsession with the character of Lobo, his all-time favorite among comic book heroes. And the filmmaker therefore entrusted him with the role in the next film Supergirl. In a video posted Friday on Instagram by Gunn himself, we discover the first glimpse of Jason Momoa in the skin of Lobo.

He comes out of his dressing room, fangs showing, looks at the camera and lets out a simple “Finally”, before heading towards the set. The sequence ends with a first official glimpse of Lobo, cult anti-hero of the DC universe, who arrives on his motorcycle. The character actually seems tailor-made for him!

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow features Milly Alcock (revealed by House of the Dragon) as Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl. The film is the second chapter of the new DC Universe led by James Gunn and Peter Safran, after Superman expected in 2025, with David Corenswet as Man of Steel and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane.

The production is by Craig Gillespie, with Matthias Schoenaerts in the role of the villain Krem and also Eve Ridley. The screenplay is written by Ana Nogueira, adapted from the DC comics by Tom King and Bilquis Evely. Cinema release next June.
