Jim Carrey officially signs on for Sonic 3
Dr. Robotnik hasn’t said his last word!
Double news for Paramount, which, in addition to sharing an unexpected spot to promote future programs from its streaming service – which includes Captain Picard from Star Trek alongside Knuckles (Sonic’s opponent) in the same sketch- reveals to Variety that a third opus of the adventures of the ultra-fast blue hedgehog is well in the making. And that he will see the return of a certain Dr. Robotnik, who will always be played by Jim Carrey.
A big blow for the studio, since apart from this saga, the Canadian actor is more or less retired: in the cinema, he has done nothing apart from Sonic Since The Bad Batchin 2017, and on the series side, Kidding already dates back to 2020.

Jim Carrey Considers Retiring From Acting: ‘I’ve Had Enough!’
The end of the second opus could suggest a change of villain in the future, but if you stayed until the end of the credits, then you know that the evil scientist is in the wild.
“You all thought I was missing, but I was just underground, we read under an official teaser of this sequel to the family comedies released in 2020 and 2022 in cinemas. All you have seen of me is only a shadow of all that can happen…” The date of “December 2024” is then displayed to Sonic 3.
Variety specifies that the exact release date in the United States will be December 20, 2024, and that Jeff Fowler is back at the helm, after two parts which grossed nearly $900 million at the worldwide box office. Paramount+ is preparing in parallel Knuckles as a TV series derived from the film, with Idris Elba in the voice cast. Hence his appearance with Patrick Stewart in this other ad. The circle is complete !
