Lena Dunham has ‘an idea’ to bring Girls back with a film

“It’s impossible not to wonder where they are today…”

Ten years later, what has become of them?

Lena Dunham really wants to show it in a film.

The comeback isn’t official yet, but the idea is on the table. The star and creator of Girls says she is seriously considering a film based on the hit HBO drama. Guest on the show “Radio Andy” on SiriusXM, Lena Dunham reveals:

“I would love to bring Girls back, and I have to say I have a bit of an idea for a storyline in the back of my mind. Absolutely! It’s impossible not to wonder where they are today.”

Beyond the simple fad, Dunham specifies having re-established contact with the original cast via a group conversation, humorously named “Survivors of the Crackcident”, a group in which reunions are regularly mentioned with amusing ideas already outlined:

“We’re texting with the girls and Andrew (Rannells). Jemima (Kirke) comes in with her best analysis, like: Jess is really into Robert Francis Kennedy Jr! And we’re like, ‘Obviously! Obviously!’ She doesn’t want anyone to get vaccinated. She’s furious.”

The actress assures that she still sees her former Girls comrades “all the time,” “and then, they are my muses. So, I think it’s obvious.”

But she tempers immediately: “We don’t want to come back too soon. We want their absence to be felt. We want to be desired a little.”

Aired between 2012 and 2017 on HBO, Girls lasted six seasons and 62 episodes. She has been nominated for Emmy Awards 19 times and won two.

And Lena Dunham concludes with mischief: “Okay, we’re making a Girls film, HBO Max! In any case, I would be delighted.”
