Miraculous Ladybug! A new film is in preparation
Two years after the massive success of the first film adaptation of the French cartoon, the saga announces its return to cinemas.
Marinette is 10 years old!
Ten years after its debut on television and two years after the success of the first feature film (1.7 million admissions in France and more than 40 million dollars collected worldwide), the Miraculous franchise offers a new adventure on the big screen.
The news was confirmed by Miraculous Corp, the joint venture founded by Mediawan and Zag, the studio of Jérémy Zag, creator, director and producer of the universe. And for this second animated film, the team looks particularly solid: John Cohen, producer of Despicable Me and Angry Birds – The Movie, joins the adventure alongside screenwriter Matt Roller, known for his work on Rick and Morty and Community.
Currently in development, this new chapter will continue the success of Miraculous: the film, released in 2023, which not only conquered Europe but also triumphed on Netflix in several territories, notably in the United States, Canada and Latin America.
The musical feature film – with eight original songs – marked a symbolic milestone for the franchise.
John Cohen does not hide his enthusiasm:
“I have been a fan of Miraculous for years. Few franchises have captured so many hearts around the world, with their unique blend of humor, spectacular action and inspiring characters. Being able to participate in this new adventure of Ladybug and Cat Noir is an irresistible opportunity.”
The film, still supervised by Jérémy Zag, will be a continuation of the series created by Thomas Astruc and drawn by Nathanaël Bronn, broadcast on TF1 since 2015 and in more than 120 countries.
Miraculous 2 does not yet have a theatrical release date.
