Mission Impossible 7 crushes the competition at the French box office
But it scores lower than Fallout in 2018.
Waiting for the releases ofOppenheimerand especially Barbie, Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning part 1 dominates the French box office unchallenged, with 930,000 admissions including previews, out of 785 prints. But, as in the United States, the new episode of the saga carried by Tom Cruise fails to do better than the previous one, Mission Impossible: Fallout, which had gathered more than a million spectators in its first week. And it remains very far from the very first Impossible missionwhich had sold 1.7 million tickets in France on only 585 copies, in 1996.
Mission Impossible 7: a new peak for the saga (review)
Behind, Indiana Jones 5 exceeded 2 million admissions, with 390,000 new tickets sold in the third week. Elementary should also reach this milestone during the summer. The new Pixar attracted 340,000 onlookers, for a total of 1.7 million admissions. Miraculous And Insidious 5 complete the top 5 with respectively 294,000 and 160,000 spectators this week.
Only one other novelty joins the top 10, Green Algae, the thriller by Pierre Jolivet, which exchanged 125,000 counter-brands, previews included. Finally, we can note that the output ofAsterix: Mission Cleopatra in 4K achieves a very honest score. Alain Chabat’s comedy is approaching the 300,000 admissions mark for its second week of release.
