Morgan Freeman pays tribute to his French voice, Benoît Allemane

“He was known to be the official voice of your servant in French films…”, wrote the star, a few months after their meeting at the Monte-Carlo festival.

Benoît Allemane died at the start of 2025. The actor, specialized in theater and dubbing, had just turned 82. Voice of Super Baloo or Zeus at Disney, he has since Robin Hood, prince of thieves (1991) and Ruthless (1992), the official voice actor of Morgan Freeman. With a handful of exceptions, he provided his VF for more than 40 years and around fifty films and series, until A Good Person by Zach Braff and Special Operations: Lionessin 2023.

Freeman is an actor he greatly admired, as he told Guillaume Pley shortly after meeting him last year during an awards ceremony at the Monte-Carlo festival.

Chatting with his French voice also marked Morgan Freeman, who paid tribute to Benoît Allemane on X in a touching message:

“We say goodbye to the voice artist and actor Benoît Allemane, can we read on the official account of the Hollywood star, with their photo as a duo. He was also known for being the official voice of yours truly in French films. Benoît and I met last year. I extend my most sincere condolences to his family and to the entire French community who benefited from his remarkable talents.”
