Nathalie Emmanuel and Omar Sy hit the Parisian pavement in the trailer for The Killer
John Woo himself directs the American remake of one of the biggest successes of his career released in 1989.
“Zee (Nathalie Emmanuel) is a mysterious assassin known and feared in the Parisian underground as the Queen of the Dead. But during a mission entrusted by her mentor and mentor (Sam Worthington), Zee refuses to kill a blind young woman (Diana Silvers) in a Parisian nightclub. A decision that will disintegrate Zee’s alliances, attract the attention of a shrewd police investigator (Omar Sy), and plunge her into a sinister criminal conspiracy that will put her on a collision course with her own past.”
Thirty five years after the performance of Chow Yun-Fat in the Hong Kong version of The Killer, John Woo internationalizes the plot that saw Jeffrey Chow, an intrepid hitman, and Inspector Lee face off. Change of actor, location and character names, but no intensity. Through the streets of the French capital (which proves once again, after Taken, The memory in the skinor Mission: Impossible – Falloutbeing a privileged destination for this kind of cinema), the director offers us a summary of almost frenetic action, of which we have a glimpse in a first trailer which is here:
To carry this Peacock production, John Woo has bet on a cosmopolitan cast. Nathalie Emmanuel thus embodies the Queen of the Dead. The British actress was surely not disoriented by the pace of the set of The Killershe who we saw in the saga of Fast and Furiousin the first two parts of the Labyrinthand in the series Game Of Throneswhich revealed her to the general public. In September, she will be on the bill for Megalopolis of Francis Ford Coppola.
Facing her is Omar Sy, who once again confirms his status as an international actor after (among other things) the saga Jurassic Worldand especially the global success of the Netflix series that he produces and stars in, Lupine.
The distribution is completed by Sam Worthington (Avatar), Diana Silvers (Glass), Said Taghmaoui (Hate), Hugo Diego Garcia, Aurelia Agel, Eric Cantona, Gregory Montel (Ten percent), David Clark And Elie Haddad.
The Killer will be released on August 23 on the Peacock streaming platform. It does not yet have a release date in France.
