Netflix is preparing a hooker reboot… Action comedy version
The Lake City cop, embodied at the time by William Shatner, will be entitled to a second life.
New improbable project for Netflix: the platform develops an offbeat adaptation of the Police series of the 1980s Hooker.
This film will be a total reboot in the form of an action comedy inspired by the cult show taken at the time by William Shatner (ex -Captain Kirk of Star Trek).
Broadcast from 1982 on ABC, and in France on TF1 shortly after, Hooker told the daily life of a veteran war sergeant-camped by a post-star trek castner-responsible for training young fiery recruits, played in particular by Heather Locklear, the one who was going to become a US TV superstar with Melors Place, shortly after. The show experienced 5 seasons and a final TV movie (Blood Sport), and has brought together a solid community of fans.
For his return to Netflix, Hooker will change tone. The film is moving towards a comic and meta rereading, very far from the original procedural style. On writing, we find Jarrad Paul and Andy Mogel, duo behind Yes Man with Jim Carrey, but also the comedy The D Train.
According to Variety, discussions are underway with William Shatner, now 94 years old, for him to participate in the project – in one way or another.
