Nicole Kidman at 14: rare images of her very first role!

The Australian actress is nostalgic as she receives a Life Achievement Award from the American Film Institute.

If she was born in Hawaii (to Australian parents who were students on the island), it was in the land of kangaroos that she grew up Nicole Kidman. It was there that she played her very first role in Bush Christmas (1983), an Australian holiday classic, in which she played the daughter of the Thompson family, who fight to prevent the seizure of their farm in Queensland.

Nicole Kidman was only 14 when she made the film. And while the Oscar-winning actress receives the very prestigious Life Achievement Award from the American Film Institute this week, rewarding her entire career, she displays a certain nostalgia, posting images of Bush Christmas on his Instagram account: “This 14-year-old girl could never have predicted all the talented people she would later work with. And the many different characters she will play. I'm so excited to celebrate on Saturday, with so many friends and peers from the American Film Institute.” she writes.

Nicole Kidman will be the first Australian to receive honors from the AFI, she who left the country in the early 1990s to break into Hollywood.
