Quentin Tarantino reveals his favorite film … and the one he considers his masterpiece
Pulp Fiction ? Kill Bill? Dogs reservoir? Not even …
Even Quentin Tarantino has a favorite film in his own filmography.
Podcast guest The Church of Tarantinothe doubly Oscar -winning director has delivered his very personal classification. And beware surprise, he doesn’t even quote pulp Fiction ! According to QT, his best film is …
“Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood is my favorite, Inglourious Basterds is my best”.
And he specifies in stride:
“But I think that Kill Bill is the ultimate film of Quentin Tarantino, because no one else could have done it. Each aspect is literally torn from my imagination, from my unconscious, my obsessions and my passions. Kill Bill is the film I was born to make. But Inglourious Basterds remains my masterpiece, and Once Upon has Time … in Hollywood is the one I prefer.”
The filmmaker also lent himself to the same exercise for his scenarios. And there again, no trace of his Palme d’Or Cannes among his darlings:
“I think that Inglourious Basterds is my best script, followed by the eight bastards and Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood. But there is one aspect of the eight bastards which, in my opinion, represents my best staging of my own equipment. The scenario is solid, and I think that is the best way that I knew how to serve it as a director.”
We have the right not to agree with the classification of the director who, ironically, will not himself carry out the continuation of his favorite, Once Upon a Time… in Hollywoodleaving David FINCHER to direct The Adventures of Cliff Boothsoon for Netflix.
