RoboCop reboot will be signed by James Wan on Prime Video

The director of Saw, Insidious and other Conjuring is working on an adaptation of Paul Verhoeven’s cult film.

Is it time for RoboCop to be reactivated? Hollywood has been circling around a reboot project for years. Neil Blomkamp almost succeeded in making a new film before the pandemic. But recently, a series project has been under development. A live-action television series RoboCop is preparing for Prime Video.

And the Amazon MGM studio has just added one of the kings of horror cinema, James Wanin the loop. The director of Saw, Insidious and other Conjuringwill be executive producer of this new RoboCop. He will be assisted by Peter Ocko. Former screenwriter of the crime series Elementary and poetic Pushing Daiseshe will be the showrunner of this television adaptation of the original 1987 film starring Peter Weller.

Who will take over the role of this technologically advanced police officer to combat growing crime? Who will be half-man, half-machine against the underworld? No casting has yet been announced. No filming date either.

Remember that a not very convincing reboot attempt had already taken place in 2014, directed by José Padilha and with Joel Kinnaman in the title role.
