Ryan Gosling takes on The Pierreafeu Family
The actor is preparing a new live-action film dedicated to the famous prehistoric family, with a surprising change of perspective.
After playing an astronaut lost in space, Ryan Gosling will soon venture into a completely different universe: that of The Pierreafeu Family.
The Warner Bros. project It’s still early days, but it could seriously dust off the franchise.
According to Deadline, this new idea for a live-action film would not center the story on Fred and Wilma, but on Bamm-Bamm, the adopted son of Barney and Betty Rubble. And above all, the character would have become an adult here, whereas he is only a young child in the cartoon or the 1994 film.
Created in 1960 by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, The Pierreafeu Family followed the daily lives of Fred, Wilma, Barney and Betty in a fanciful prehistory where dinosaurs and other animals were used as household appliances.
Ryan Gosling will produce the film with his partner Jessie Henderson, through their company Open Invite. The project is still looking for a screenwriter and no director has yet been announced. We don’t know yet if he’s supposed to play in it…
This will not be the first live-action adaptation of the Pierreafeu. A first film, The Flintstones Familywas released in 1994 with John Goodman in the role of Fred, before a prequel, The Flintstones at Rock Vegasin 2000.
For Ryan Gosling, the project adds to a particularly busy schedule. After Last Chance Projectthe actor is to play Ghost Rider in Shawn Levy’s next Marvel film, expected in theaters in 2028. He will also be appearing in Star Wars: Starfighter in 2027.
