Sean Penn defends Woody Allen: “He is innocent in my eyes and I would rework with him tomorrow”
The actor doubts the accusations brought against the director and believes that he “was not found guilty.”
The case Woody Allen continues to divide in Hollywood.
Is the legendary New York director definitively infrequent, since accusations of sexual abuse have multiplied?
Guest of Louis Theroux Podcast,, Sean Penn did not turn around the pot. Without detour, he defends the filmmaker and claims to be ready to make a new film with him: “I would rework with him without hesitation. If the project is good, I go for it.”
The Oscar -winning actor, who turned under the direction of Allen in Agreements and disagreements (in 1999) clearly takes up position: “For me, he is innocent.”
At 89, the director remains stuck in accusations of sexual abuse carried by his adoptive daughter Dylan Farrowwho claims to have been attacked when she was only seven years old. Accusations always firmly denied by Woody Allenfor over thirty years.
Sean Pennhe deeply doubts the reliability of the case: “I do not know anyone well enough to assert 100 % what happened or not. But most of the stories come from people to whom I would not even entrust a room” asserts the actor. And when Louis Theroux reminds him that the accusations also come from Ronan Farrowrespected journalist from New YorkerPenn retorts: “It is you who give him this title, not me.”
And the actor to go further: “I have never heard a psychiatrist or a specialist say that a person accused of pedophilia would have been once in his life. It is rare. There, we are talking about a single accusation in 80 years …”
As for Allen’s relationships with much younger women, especially SOON-YI PREVINthe other adoptive girl of Mia Farrowthat the director ended up marrying, Penn contrasts: “Whether we agree or not, this is not the subject here. We are talking about post-pubescent and granted relationships. It is a different debate.”
And Sean Penn to conclude, farm:
“He was not found guilty. So I consider him innocent. And I would rework with him tomorrow if it was necessary.”
