Happy to have been able to play Sirius Black in the saga Harry Potter, Gary Oldman However, he still has a real regret about it.
“I love Sirius, he declared to Indiewire recentlybut he was not present enough, he appeared and then he disappeared immediately behind the veil…”
If he is one of the main characters of the third opus, The Prisoner of AzkabanHarry’s godfather is then reduced to a cameo in episode 4, disappearing from n°5 (“behind the veil”, as the actor describes it, which had disconcerted readers of JK Rowling’s novels before being adapted for the big screen), then it is barely glimpsed during the final resolution. Gary Oldman: “Harry Potter and Batman saved my career”
However, all is not lost for the English actor. An HBO series on the universe of Harry Potter is in the works and could give him a second chance, in the shoes of Sirius Black… or that of Dumbledore?
“I’d bet my money they’ll have a whole new cast… Maybe in a few years I could do Dumbledore,” he said, not quite jokingly.
The service offer has in any case gone down well at HBO. In the meantime, Gary Oldman works for another studio, Apple TV+, for which he plays an MI5 spy in the series Slow Horseswhose season 4 is available.
