Stéphane Brizé plunges Guillaume Canet into a nostalgic thalasso in Hors-saison
Selected twice in competition at Cannes for The Law of the Market (2015) and At War (2018), Stéphane Brizé offers a nostalgic Breton fresco.
Mathieu is a Parisian who is in his fifties. As an actor, the latter struggles to flourish, which leads him to isolate himself for a thalassotherapy near the Breton coast, in Morbihan. Technicians, actors. He drowns his melancholy in the hot tubs – but the spiritual rest will be short-lived, since Mathieu will come across an old acquaintance. Alice, piano teacher, with whom he shared a love story fifteen years ago now. Since then, they have led their lives without looking back, the resentment seems to have dissipated, but this curious encounter will inevitably revive old feelings.
Stéphane Brizé director of The law of the market (2015) and the very committed In war (2018) with Vincent Lindoninvites the Italian actress to the casting of his dramatic comedy Alba Rohrwacherseen in The Chimera (2023), or Tre Piani (2021), as well as Guillaume Canetcurrently showing the latest film ofYvan Attal, A roll of the dice.
The film was presented at the 80th Venice Film Festival. On this occasion, the on-screen couple walked the red carpet, as well as Marie Druckerwho co-wrote the screenplay. Vincent Delerme was also present, since he is the composer of the film’s soundtrack.
Out of season will be released on March 20, 2024 in theaters.
