Stephen King walking or setting in film: First images
The adaptation of Francis Lawrence, with Mark Hamill, reveals his first photos.
The first images of Walking (The Long Walk in VO) Adaptation of the cult novel of Stephen Kinghave just been revealed … and it announces heavy.
Directed by Francis Lawrence (Hunger Games,, I am a legend), this dystopian thriller promises to be as chilling as it is intense. The film brings together a promising cast with young talents Cooper Hoffman,, David Jonsson,, Charlie Plummer,, Ben Wangaround Judy Greerand the big Mark Hamill.
Walkingit’s what ? A deadly game, a brutal metaphor. In the near future, 100 teenagers are selected for a relentless competition: walking, still walking, at more than 6.4 km/h. Three warnings, and it’s the ball. The last survivor wins … whatever he wants. A dream that quickly turns into a nightmare.
Inspired by the novel written by Stephen King Under the pseudonym Richard Bachman in 1979, the film retains the implacable essence of the story: a mixture of psychological tension, institutional cruelty and juvenile despair.
Questioned by Vanity Fair,, Stephen King Confides: “You write according to your time. It is true that the Vietnam War was in the air, but I didn’t really think about that. I wrote something brutal, desperate … What you lay when you are 19 years old, that you are full of energy and cynicism.”
With its first austere and impactful images, Walking promises to be a biting parable on the sacrificed youth.
Released in France on October 1, 2025 at the cinema.
