Stray: the video game with the stray cat that buzzed in 2022 will become a film

In the shoes of a stray cat, on the big screen! Straya successful adventure video game released in 2022 by BlueTwelve Studio, will soon be adapted into a film.

According to Entertainment Weekly, it will be a feature-length animated film, made by Annapurna Animation (to whom we owe Nimona).

Published by Annapurna Interactive, Stray is a third-person game that lets players control a cat trying to escape from a confined city full of various robotic enemies. The game has won numerous awards, including Best Indie Game and Best Debut Indie Game at The Game Awards.

“It’s a game about what makes us human, and there are no humans in it” comments Annapurna Animation. “It’s a buddy movie about a cat and a robot, and it has a hilarious dynamic. So there’s comedy in all of this, even though there’s not a single human being in this film. I think this is one of the reasons why the game is incredibly popular. You see the world through the point of view of an adorable cat. How did they achieve this, and how are we going to achieve this in the film? We will do it, even if it sometimes seems impossible, but we know that it is the essence of the game and the key to telling the story.”
