The new series derived from the cult sitcom will be called Stuart Fails to Save the Universe and will be a great science fiction adventure in parallel worlds.
Big Bang Theory goes to mdoe Sliders!
The new spin-off series, entitled Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, will take the little comic book seller from parallel worlds to parallel worlds. The new trailer posted online by HBO Max reveals a host of different universes explored by Stuart Bloom and his friend the geologist Bert: cartoon worlds, worlds at war, icy worlds, a world with a Kripke who has become an adored Emperor, and even a Matrix-style world!
Seven years after the end of The Big Bang Theory, Stuart will try to save the multiverse in this enormous sci-fi mission, packed with special effects.
The series, composed of ten episodes, will be available for streaming on HBO Max from Friday July 24 in France, with new episodes broadcast every Friday.
Synopsis: “Stuart Bloom, owner of a bookstore specializing in comic books, must restore reality after breaking a device designed by Sheldon and Leonard, accidentally causing a multiversal cataclysm. In this quest, Stuart is helped by his girlfriend Denise, his geologist friend Bert and Barry Kripke, quantum physicist and real pain in the ass. Throughout their adventure, they encounter alternative versions of characters we know and love from “The Big Bang Theory”. But as suggested the title of the series, everything will not go as planned.”
In development since April 2023, the series is co-created by TBBT’s dad, Chuck Lorre, with Zak Penn and Bill Prady. It is produced by Chuck Lorre Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.
In the casting, Kevin Sussman (Stuart) will now be the star – after narrowly missing the role of Leonard 20 years ago – accompanied by Lauren Lapkus (Denis), Brian Posehn (Bert) and John Ross Bowie (Barry).
The original music will be by Danny Elfman, Oscar-winning composer best known for his collaborations with Tim Burton and the theme songs for The Simpsons.
With this project, the franchise offers itself a fourth series after the original series, the prequel Young Sheldon (finished in 2024) and its spin-off Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.
