The Deauville Festival unveils its jury and all the films in competition in 2024
Martin Bourboulon, Emilie Dequenne, Dakota Johnson, Omar Sy… The 50th edition of the Normandy festival promises many surprises.
A few days ago, we learned that Benoît Magimel would be heading the Jury for the competition of the next edition of the Deauville American Film Festival. Today, the organizers of the event are discovering the personalities who will accompany the French actor for this week of cinema, as well as the films they will be responsible for judging.
Three actors and actresses are joining this panel: Ludivine Sagnier, Damien Bonnard, Emilie Dequenne And Lou Lampros. On the filmmakers’ side, we find Elias Belkeddar (Omar the strawberry), Agathe Riedinger (which debuted at Cannes this year with Rough Diamond), And Martin Bourboulondirector to whom we owe the saga frenchie of the Three Musketeers.
To complete this jury, the trumpeter and composer Ibrahim Maaloufwho worked on the soundtracks of the Yves Saint Laurent of Jalil Lespertof Towards the light (Naomi Kawase), and of In the forests of Siberia (Safy Nebbou), a film for which he received the César for Best Music – to name but a few.
“As the Deauville American Film Festival celebrates its fiftieth anniversary, the competition joins the festivities to fuel an edition that already promises to be rich in emotions”announces the event’s press release as a preamble to the long-awaited list of films in competition.
Fourteen feature films, eight of which are first films, will make their debut in Normandy cinemas. Sports, disability, identity, family relationships, mental health, addictions, the world of work, heartbreak, ideological wars, class struggles… This selection will once again take a tour of a complex society populated by colorful individuals, with, as a bonus, a few discreet stars as headliners such as Francesca Scorsese, Elsie Fisher, Aja Naomi King, Colman Domingo, Dakota Johnson, Sean Penn or even Omar Sy.
