The end of Task explained by Fabien Frankel

The actor speaks to Première about the last episode of the exciting crime series from HBO Max, which has just ended.

This is one of the notable series of the year 2025 which has just ended. After 7 suffocating episodes, HBO’s exciting Task ends this Monday in France on HBO Max.

Fabien Frankel, Franco-British actor revealed in the role of Ser Criston Cole in House of the Dragon, plays a major role. For Première, he analyzes this last episode, Grasso’s motivations and his relationship with Tom (Mark Ruffalo). The end of Task deciphered in 4 questions.

Spoiler alert!

How did you react when you learned that Grasso was the mole within the task force?
Brad Inglesby (the creator) told me that from the start. We understand in the 7th episode why he became the mole of the Task Force and that he never anticipated that it could take such proportions. He had been working with the Dark Hearts gang for a long time, and it had never escalated to this point.

Is Grasso a bad guy deep down?
No… But anyway, I don’t think we should look at the character in too linear a way. There’s no point seeing him like that, even if I also understand why the public might perceive him that way…

Grasso offers himself a form of redemption in the finale, and it is he who kills Jayson. How do you see this ending?
Yes, it is true redemption. Brad had envisioned it that way. Now, just because he killed Jayson, the big bad of the story, doesn’t mean everything is erased or that it justifies everything he did. This gesture gives him the opportunity to redeem himself. That’s how he sees it. But that doesn’t mean there’s complete redemption.

How do you think Tom sees Grasso at the end of the series?
Tom isn’t that angry. But he is disappointed. More than anything. Now he knows what people are like. He knows that Grasso is not bad. You can do bad things without necessarily being a bad person. I really believe in that.

Task, mini-series in 7 episodes, to watch in France on HBO Max.
