The new series Big Bang Theory will be released this summer on HBO Max

The first images of Stuart Fails to Save the Universe take us back to the small comic book store in Pasadena…

Here’s Stuart again!

Seven years after the end of The Big Bang Theory, the loser comic book store owner will star in a brand new spin-off series, titled Stuart Fails to Save the Universe. HBO Max has just revealed the first official images, which show Stuart in the company of familiar faces.

His girlfriend Denise, the scientist geologist Bert and the physicist – Sheldon’s sworn enemy – Barry Kripke will return to his side for a totally crazy SF adventure.

In the casting, Kevin Sussman (Stuart) will now be the star – after narrowly missing the role of Leonard 20 years ago – accompanied by Lauren Lapkus (Denis), Brian Posehn (Bert) and John Ross Bowie (Barry).

HBO Max also announces that this new spin-off will be broadcast this summer on the platform, without giving a precise date yet.

Other notable information: the original music will be by Danny Elfman, Oscar-winning composer best known for his collaborations with Tim Burton and the theme songs for The Simpsons.

So what will the new series be about?

Stuart Bloom, owner of the comic book store, accidentally triggers multiversal chaos after breaking a device designed by Sheldon and Leonard. Result: a sort of multiverse version of Armageddon. To repair his mistakes, he can count on Denise, Bert and Barry Kripke. Together, they will encounter alternative versions of iconic characters from The Big Bang Theory. And as the title suggests, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe…it’s clearly not going to go well.

In development since April 2023, the series is co-created by TBBT’s dad, Chuck Lorre, with Zak Penn and Bill Prady. It is produced by Chuck Lorre Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.

With this project, the franchise offers itself a fourth series after the original series, the prequel Young Sheldon (finished in 2024) and its spin-off Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.
