The nominations and our favorites for the 2026 Golden Globes
This Sunday evening, in Los Angeles, One Battle after the Other should be a raid. And do French films have a chance?
Two months before the 2026 Oscars, the awards season will experience a pivotal moment tonight, with the evening of the 2026 Golden Globes.
For this 83rd edition of the ceremony organized by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, One Battle After Another will be the clear favorite. The film received 9 nominations, including Best Director for Paul Thomas Anderson, Best Actor for Leonardo DiCaprio, Best Actress for Chase Infiniti, as well as several supporting roles for Benicio Del Toro, Sean Penn and Teyana Taylor.
Sentimental Value follows closely with 8 nominations, while Sinners totals 7 and stands out as the main competitor alongside the historical drama Hamnet, with 6 nominations, but which seems at the height of its hype and could well create a surprise (the film will be released on January 21 in France).
On the French side, we’re crossing our fingers for Un Simple Accident, a French production and Palme d’Or at Cannes. The film by Jafar Panahi – the Iranian filmmaker in exile will be present in Los Angeles this evening – is very well represented with 4 nominations.
There are also 2 French films nominated in the animation category with Arco and Amélie and the Metaphysics of Tubes. They have a real chance of beating Pixar and Disney even if the big favorite will be Kpop Demon Hunters…
Finally, among the series, the hierarchy already seems very established. If The White Lotus (6 nominations, including best drama series and several performances) comes out strong, it risks being outdone by Adolescence (5 nominations). Among dramas, The Pitt will be a big favorite like The Studio among comedies.
