Tim Burton taps KPop Demon Hunters writers for his next film

Danya Jimenez and Hannah McMecha will write Attack of the 50 Foot Woman.

A filmmaker who follows the spirit of the times.

After casting the Wednesday of Netflix, Jenna Ortega, for her Beetlejuice2Tim Burton calls on Danya Jimenez and Hannah McMechan, the screenwriters of the phenomenon KPop Demon Huntersto write his new film: a rereading of Attack of the 50 Foot Woman.

Warner Bros. Pictures has officially entrusted the scenario to the duo, already announced in 2024 as the driving forces behind this reboot. Tim Burton is attached to direct this new version of the 1958 horror sci-fi classic, in which a wealthy heiress becomes gigantic after an alien encounter… before taking revenge on her cheating husband. A deliciously excessive pitch, perfectly compatible with the director’s gothic-baroque imagination.

Note that a first version of the script was written by Gillian Flynn, before this change in creative team.

Margot Robbie could take over the title role in the cast, 70 years after Allison Hayes. The star is in talks to carry the project. If the deal goes through, Robbie will co-produce with his company LuckyChap.

Since its release last summer, KPop Demon Hunters has become a global phenomenon: the most watched film in Netflix history, a soundtrack ranked in the Billboard 200, and three Golden Globe nominations this year, including best animated film and best original song.

By trusting Attack of the 50 Foot Woman with these two new ultra-bankable voices, Tim Burton looks to the future, without ever denying his taste for monsters and excess.
