Farewell Vinyl: Isabelle Adjani and Mathieu Amalric in a sulfurous thriller
An infernal spiral about a love triangle which will be released directly on France 2.
Goodbye Vinyl tells the story of Eve Faugère (Isabelle Adjani), a diva of French song from the 1950s, married to the composer Maurice Faugère (Matthew Amalric), which propelled her to the forefront. She has a lover, her pianist Jean Leprat (Matthew Dessertine) and with the tragic death of Maurice, they will find themselves trapped in a dark posthumous plot. Eve receives 45s on which Maurice has engraved macabre threats aimed at her. In this chaos, Florence (Barbara Pravi), an ambitious young singer, dreams of dethroning Eve.
Goodbye Vinyl is an adaptation of the novel At a loss written by the famous duo Boileau And Narcejac to whom we owe the books The one who was no longer And From the deadwhich respectively became in the cinema Devilish by Clouzot and Cold sweat by Hitchcock. The director Josee Dayanwho can boast a long career in television (the count of Monte Cristo with Gérard Depardieu, Wretched, Dangerous relationships…) takes over the work of Boileau And Narcejac to deliver a new adaptation with a duo of stars who need no introduction. The trailer plays the old-fashioned thriller game by successively presenting each character as well as their function in the plot: Adjani is “The Weeping Star”; Amalric“the deceased husband”; Matthew Dessertine is “The Musician Lover” and Barbara Pravi is “The Rising Star”. Goodbye Vinyl will be broadcast on France 2 on September 18, 2023.
